Warranty & Work Disclaimers

Effective March 3, 2026

Workmanship Warranty

All installations include a one-year workmanship warranty from the date of installation. Due to the rapid curing nature of this concrete, most issues surface within the first 24 hours.

Covered: Cracks wider than 1/4 inch on level ground caused by improper installation or inadequate compaction. These are considered operator error and will be repaired at no charge.

Not Covered: Spider cracks (a natural characteristic of concrete), damage from vehicles, heavy equipment, riding mowers or tractors, damage from tree roots or ground heaving, damage caused by unmarked sprinkler systems during installation, water damage from improperly extended downspouts, and repairs needed due to homeowner or landscaper negligence.

Concrete and Cracking

Concrete is a natural material that can and will develop cracks over time. This is normal and expected. We place control joints (expansion cuts) every 12-18 inches to control where cracks may appear and to relieve stress during the curing process. Small cracks near the ground at control joints are a sign that the joints are functioning correctly, not that the curbing has failed. Steep angles, inclines, and declines present additional challenges for compression and are more prone to cracking.

Color Variations

Colored curbing may vary slightly in appearance after curing. We use professional-grade Sika color additives applied according to manufacturer specifications. Temperature, humidity, and curing conditions can all affect the final color. Minor color variation is not considered a defect.

Sealing and Maintenance

All colored curbing is sealed with a high-gloss acrylic sealer at installation. This sealer breaks down over time due to UV exposure and weathering. We recommend resealing colored curbing annually to maintain its appearance. You can contact us for professional resealing or do it yourself using a solvent-based spray sealer. Do not use water-based sealers. Gray (uncolored) curbing does not require sealing.

Drainage and Water Management

Installed curbing creates a 4-inch barrier around your landscape beds. Our crew cuts small drainage channels in strategic locations to allow direct rainwater to exit. These drains handle rainfall only, not roof runoff. You are responsible for extending downspouts over the top of the curbing to divert roof water outside the curbed area. Blue Ridge Curbing, LLC is not liable for water damage, erosion, or pooling caused by improperly managed downspouts or inadequate drainage.

Customer Responsibilities

Before Installation: Mark all sprinkler heads, irrigation lines, and underground utilities with flags or paint. Clear driveways and work areas of vehicles. Confirm proper equipment access to your property.

After Installation: Keep children and pets away from the curbing. Do not walk on, mow near, or disturb the curbing for at least 48 hours. Keep sprinklers off for a minimum of 5 days. Allow 28 days for full curing. Extend downspouts over the curbing to prevent water pooling.

Property and Sprinklers

Our work requires wheelbarrows, equipment, and foot traffic across your property. We clean up all materials and debris before completion but are not responsible for minor lawn disturbances. Quotes exclude disposal of existing plastic edging, bed edger mulch, and backfilling in front of the curb trench. Sprinkler head relocation is available for $25 per head and is excluded from quotes unless otherwise noted. We are not liable for damage to sprinklers that are not properly marked before installation.

Mowing and Edging

Push mowers and riding lawn mowers can pass over the curbing without issue if care is taken. Avoid setting mower decks too low. Metal tools and blades can scratch concrete, similar to scratching a sidewalk. String trimmers are safe unless a metal blade is used. Do not drive large tractors or vehicles over curbing, as this may cause damage and ground sinking.

Scheduling and Payment

Approved estimates require a 50% deposit and color selection to secure your installation date. Balance is due upon completion. Failure to pay at completion may result in removal of the curbing and forfeiture of the deposit. Past due invoices are subject to a 1.5% service fee or $5, whichever is greater. Returned checks incur all bank fees, and the remaining balance becomes payable in cash or credit card only. Minimum job charge is $600. Tree ring minimum is 25 feet of curbing (approximately 6-foot diameter).
